1st Mares In-Foal To UK-Irish Guineas Winner Cockney Rebel

Tuesday, 11th March 2008

In the UK, the 1st mares have been scanned in-foal to last season's Gr1 English 2000 Guineas-Gr1 Irish 2000 Guineas dual-winner Cockney Rebel (Val Royal-Factice, by Known Fact) "including Gulch mare Dragon Flower (who is from the immediate family of Gr1-winners In Command, Lyric Fantasy & Royal Applause)" reported racingpost.co.uk. Cockney Rebel stands at the UK National Stud (alongside his US Gr1 Breeders' Cup Mile-winning sire & former Eliza Park shuttler Val Royal) for £10,000 (A$22,000). He was tragically retired after being injured in a freak accident (he "spooked" at a piece of paper) when cantering at Newmarket in routine morning trackwork in September 2007.
