Elysees Wins Pewsey Vale Stakes

Tuesday, 11th March 2008

Blue Gum Farm's former Coolmore shuttler & 1st-crop sire Statue Of Liberty (Storm Cat-Charming Lassie, by Seattle Slew) recorded his 1st Australian stakes-winner when debutante juvenile daughter Elysees (Statue Of Liberty-Gift Bouquet, by King's High) scored a 2.25-lengths victory over her more experienced rivals in yesterday's $50,000 Listed Pewsey Vale Stakes (1050m) for 2YO fillies at Morphettville. Despite being the only 1st-starter in the field, Elysees (ridden by Chad Lever for trainer Jon O'Connor) defeated Arrival (Choisir-Firenza, by Kenny's Best Pal) & favourite Viennese (Redoute's Choice-Snippets' Lass, by Snippets). Elysees (a $50,000 yearling bred & consigned by Tori Park Stud at the 2007 Magic Millions Adelaide Sale) earned $33,800 for her initial victory.
