4 Eagle Farm Meets Transferred During Track Revamp

Thursday, 13th March 2008

The Queensland Turf Club was advised yesterday by Queensland Racing that 4 meetings scheduled at Eagle Farm will be transferred to other Queensland racetracks. The meetings are: Saturday March 22; Wednesday April 30; Wednesday May 7; & Wednesday May 14. QTC chief executive Stephen Ferguson explained: "Several changes have already been made to the maintenance program since the race meeting held on Saturday March 1, where criticisms were made. After that meeting, QTC officials met chairman of stewards Reid Sanders & courses of action were implemented as a result of that meeting. At last Saturday's meeting (March 8) there appeared consensus that the surface was already much improved. QTC has full confidence the track staff will quickly have the course proper in top condition. While the QTC is disappointed with the decision to transfer meetings, it agrees remedial work will enable the track to be at its best for the Winter Racing Carnival."
