Forensics Wins Golden Rose

Monday, 17th March 2008

On the track, Arrowfield Stud sire Flying Spur (Danehill-Rolls, by Mr Prospector) added a group success when last season's Gr1 Golden Slipper-winning filly Forensics (Flying Spur-Prove It, by Dehere) made it 2 successive group wins in a fortnight since returning from a 21-weeks spell by again charging home from last to notch a 1.75-lengths margin over her male rivals in the $1 million Gr2 Golden Rose (1400m) for 3YOs at Rosehill Gardens in Sydney. Forensics (ridden by Danny Nikolic for trainer Peter Snowden) defeated favoured gelding El Cambio (Commands-Chaparra, by Canny Lad) & the colt Kingda Ka (Flying Spur-Fizzi Lizzi, by Royal Academy). At her previous start on March 1, Forensics (a $900,000 yearling purchased by Woodlands Stud & consigned by Arrowfield at the 2006 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) won the Gr2 Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) at Randwick. Overall she now boasts 5 wins (also including 2007's Gr1 Golden Slipper over 1200m at Rosehill & Gr3 Kindergarten Stakes over 1100m at Warwick Farm) from 10 starts for $2,868,850 earnings.
