Laird Confirms Move To Melbourne

Leading South African trainer Charles Laird confirmed in an interview on TVN that he is in negotiations to secure stabling at Flemington or Caulfield in Melbourne & is ready to relocate to Australia "towards the end of this year". Laird said he had been "planning the move for some time" & noted the 30-40 yearlings he intends to buy at the upcoming Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale & Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney "will stay here for me to train." Over the last 3 years, Laird has purchased 57 horses for almost $20 million on behalf of his major South African client Markus Jooste. Laird added: "We've spent a fortune on Australian horses over the last few years & many of them are fillies & mares that we will look to bring back to Australia with a view to starting a breeding operation as well."
