Coolmore $5m For Von Costa Half-Share

Tuesday, 18th March 2008

Ken Callander reported in The Daily Telegraph that "2 horses trained by David Hayes & owned by syndicates headed by Sydney businessman Tim Hughes have had a change of ownership". The newspaper noted: "Coolmore Stud has forked out $5 million for a half-share in Encosta de Lago colt Von Costa De Hero, who is now on the Golden Slipper trail after his win in the VRC Sires Produce Stakes". Von Costa De Hero (Encosta De Lago-Piavonic, by Scenic) was a $1.2 million yearling purchased by James Bester & consigned by Coolmore at the 2007 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney. He won the Gr2 Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) for 2YOs at Flemington in his 3rd race start on March 8 (after finishing 4th on debut in a Listed race in October & then 4th in February in a Gr3 race).
