Adena Springs 2YOs: Gross Up 8%

Wednesday, 19th March 2008

Overall at the Adena Springs Sale, 97 horses sold during the Adena Springs auction for a new record US$5,283,500 (up 8% on last year's 90 sold for US$4,892,000). The US$$54,469 average rose less than 1% (last year US$54,356) while the US$28,000 median fell 30% (last year US$40,000). The buy-back rate fell from 31.8% last year to 23% this year. Adena principal Frank Stronach told bloodhorse.com: "I'm happy. In the horse business, you've got to be realistic. The ones that are a little crooked, they don't sell as well. We love the game. I try to breed a good horse, but we don't breed for the market."
