Dylan Thomas & Excellent Art Shuttling To Aust
Last season's European Horse-Of-The-Year & champion older horse Dylan Thomas (Danehill-Lagrion, by Dieses) & Gr1-winner Excellent Art (Pivotal-Obsessive, by Seeking The Gold) will join the roster at Coolmore Australia for the 2008 Southern Hemisphere breeding season. Coolmore Australia manager Michael Kirwan commented: "The Coolmore sires are enjoying a fantastic year on the racetrack & in Dylan Thomas & Excellent Art, we have 2 very exciting additions to the roster for 2008." Now 5YO Dylan Thomas (a half-brother to 2001 English champion Queen's Logic & out of Irish Broodmare-Of-The-Year Lagrion) retired at the end of 2007 with 10 wins (6 Gr1 triumphs) from 20 starts for US$6,620,852 earnings. His victories include 2007's French Gr1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe & Gr1 Prix Ganay, Irish Gr1 Champion Stakes (for the 2nd successive year) & UK Gr1 King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes, plus 2006's Gr1 Irish Derby & Gr1 Champion Stakes. In addition Dylan Thomas finished runner-up in 2007's UK Gr1 Juddmonte International Stakes & Gr1 Prince Of Wales's Stakes, plus Ireland's Gr1 Tattersalls Gold Cup; & in 2006 he finished 3rd in the Gr1 English Derby at Epsom Downs. Excellent Art retired with 4 wins (including 2007's UK Gr1 St James's Palace Stakes & 2006's UK Mill Reef Stakes) & 5 placings (including 2007's US Gr1 Breeders' Cup Mile & 2006's French Gr1 Prix Morny) from 11 starts for US$1,238,952 earnings.
