Florida 2YOs Day-2: US$650k More Than Ready Colt
In the US early this morning (Australian time), trainer Bob Holthus (acting for retired aviation executive Dave Clark's Iron Horse Racing) paid US$650,000 for a colt by Vinery Stud shuttler More Than Ready (out of Silver Deputy mare Jouled Rhythms) during initial action at the closing session of the 2-day Ocala Breeders' Sales Co March Sale of Selected 2YOs-In-Training in Florida. The colt (a half-brother to stakes-placed Blue Angel) was previously purchased for US$110,000 by consignor-agent Nick de Meric at the 2007 Keeneland September yearling sale & clocked 10.0sec for 1 furlong during the pre-sale breeze-up session. Clark told thoroughbredtimes.com: "He's very athletic & he breezed well within himself. He's by far the best breezer I've ever seen at this sale." And de Meric commented: "You never dare let yourself expect that to happen, but I knew he had the credentials to be a break-out horse. But to me, half that would have been a break-out. In my 25-year career I've only had 3 horses work in 10sec flat, so it's pretty unusual for me. They need to be pretty special to do that in my consignment. He's just the most beautiful mover you'd ever see. He seems to float about 8 inches above the ground & he has tremendous reach for a horse his size."
