Chinchilla Rose Wins Surround Stakes

Tuesday, 25th March 2008

Ill-fated Oaklands Stud stallion Lion Hunter (Danehill-Pure Of Heart, by Godswalk) added a group success when daughter Chinchilla Rose (Lion Hunter-Chiara, by Last Tycoon) scored by a neck in the $125,000 Gr2 Surround Stakes (1400m) for 3YO fillies at Randwick. Chinchilla Rose (ridden by Stephen Baster for trainer Steele Ryan) defeated favourite Occurrence (Choisir-Happens, by Barathea) & the runner-up's stable-mate Mimi Lebrock (Show A Heart-God Love It, by St Covet). Chinchilla Rose (passed-in as a yearling for $420,000 as a yearling at the 2006 Inglis Premier Sale in Melbourne) now has 3 wins (also including 2007's Gr3 Sweet Embrace Stakes over 1200m at Randwick) & 2 placings (including 2007's Listed Quezette Stakes over 1100m at Caulfield) from 11 starts for $295,450 earnings.
