Magic Millions Bosses Still Seeking Bigger Venue

Wednesday, 26th March 2008

Meanwhile Magic Millions principals John Singleton & Gerry Harvey "did little to douse speculation the Gold Coast event could move interstate if there was a better offer," reported The Australian Financial Review. Singleton declared he was "getting frustrated by negotiations with the Queensland Government about moving Magic Millions to a bigger venue on the coast", noting: "I've been talking about this through the premierships of (former National Premier Rob) Borbidge, (previous Labor Premier Peter) Beattie & (current Labor Premier Anna) Bligh. It's got to get done." And Harvey added: "If the relocation is going ahead, it will happen in the next 2-4 years or it will never happen. If they fixed up the Gold Coast in terms of racing & something else came up, who knows? Nothing's ever forever. But we have built the Magic Millions into a very strong brand here."
