NZ Star Red Ruler Targets Twin Sydney Gr1s

Exciting Kiwi 3YO gelded stayer Red Ruler (Viking Ruler-Ransom Bay, by Red Ransom) "will fly to Sydney today with 2 important Gr1 assignments on his card," reported NZ Thoroughbred Marketing. Red Ruler (who cruised to victory in February's Gr2 Lexus Championship Stakes over 2100m at Ellerslie in Auckland) will make his Australian debut in the Gr1 Darley Rosehill Guineas (2000m) at Rosehill Gardens on April 12 & then follow-up 2 weeks later in the Gr1 AJC Derby (2400m) at Royal Randwick on April 26. Red Ruler (a NZ60,000 yearling at the 2006 NZ Bloodstock Premier Sale at Karaka) currently boasts 4 wins & a placing from 6 starts; he is from the 1st southern hemisphere crop of Cambridge Stud's dual-hemisphere home-bred sire & Australian Gr1-winner Viking Ruler (Danehill Tristalove, by Sir Tristram).
