Salieri Euthanased At Widden Aged 28

Widden Stud announced 28-year-old stallion Salieri (Accipiter-Hogan's Sister, by Speak John) has been euthanased due to the infirmities of old age. Salieri (who spent recent years in retirement at Widden) was a UK Gr2-winner who came to Widden in 1984; his star progeny included champion sprinter Schillaci, 6-time Gr1-winner Shaftesbury Avenue,  dual  Gr1-winners Saleous & Prince Salieri, plus Gr1-winners Oppressor & Markham. As a broodmare sire, his daughters produced Gr1-winners Lashed, Bluebird The Word, Porto Roca & Reactive, plus Gr2-winning sire Magic Albert.
