Monday, 31st March 2008

In Japan yesterday, former Arrowfield Stud shuttler Fuji Kiseki (Sunday Silence-Millracer, by Le Fabuleux) added a Gr1 quinella when 5YO entire Fine Grain (Fuji Kiseki-Mill Grain, by Polish Precedent) scored by a neck in the Gr1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen (1200m) for 4YOs & up at Chukyo outside Nagoya. Shadai Farm-bred Fine Grain (ridden by Hideaki Miyuki Hiroyuki Nagahama) just pipped Australian-bred 5YO entire Kinshasa No Kiseki (Fuji Kiseki-Keltshaan, by Pleasant Colony) & 6YO entire Suzuka Phoenix (Sunday Silence-Rose Of Suzuka, by Fairy King) who won this race last year. Fine Grain finished 2nd in the 2006 Gr1 NHK Mile Championship (1600m) as a 3YO, but suffered a major injury immediately afterwards & and was off the scene for a long time. Runner-up Kinshasa No Kiseki previously finished 3rd in both 2007's Gr2 Centaur Stakes (1200m) at Hanshin & 2006's Gr1 NHK Mile Championship (1600m) at Tokyo, after winning 2006's Nakayama January Cup (1600m).
