Less British Racing Fixtures Scheduled For 2009

Wednesday, 2nd July 2008

The number of scheduled racing fixtures in Britain "is set to fall to 1,477 in 2009, following a record 1,504 this year," reported bloodhorse.com. The decrease "comes after a strategic review by the British Horseracing Authority, which recommended a reduction in the number of evening all-weather (artificial surface) fixtures through the winter months". There will be 3 rather than 4 evening all-weather fixtures a week between September & April.
