Qld Breeders 1: Magic Millions Won't Cut Sale Size

Friday, 4th July 2008

Thoroughbred Breeders Queensland (represented by Bob Frappell, Basil Nolan & David Lucas) convened a major meeting at Deagon yesterday with Magic Millions representatives David Chester & Paul Knight "to raise a number of issues highlighted to the TBQA by Queensland breeders relating to sales conducted by Magic Millions". Also in attendance were Queensland Racing's Bob Bentley, Bill Andrews, Mal Tuttle & Paul Brennan, as well as breeding industry representatives Neville Stewart, Jon Hasler, Steve Morley, Colin & Scott Mcalpine, Jeff Kruger, Doug Newberry, Nick Nolan & Hoss Heinriech. Frappell commented: "The most vigorous discussion revolved around the size of the sale & the selection process. A vote was taken, which unanimously conveyed to Magic Millions that (breeders present) thought too many horses were being catalogued for all the sales & the sale complex was too small for the number they attempt to accommodate. Magic Millions stated they are not willing to give any undertaking that the numbers in any sale will be capped or reduced; in fact they stated they will accept any nomination they receive."
