STC Ponders Friday Night Races To Replace Trots

Friday, 4th July 2008

Watching live thoroughbred racing on a Friday night in Sydney "is a step closer to reality, after the NSW Harness Racing Club signalled an intention to move away from its traditional time-slot," reported The Daily Telegraph. The STC (which currently conducts night racing at Canterbury during summer) "has tried to pursue this avenue in the past, only to be blocked by the NSWHRC". STC chief executive Michael Kenny confirmed: "We want to trial Friday night racing, but it has been off-limits because we have an agreement with Harold Park not to do so. If they are happy to talk about the possibilities of moving, then we are happy to meet & talk about getting in to that time-slot."
