Tabcorp Urges NSW To Maximise NT Bookie Fees

Friday, 4th July 2008

Tabcorp "wants the NSW racing authorities to impose the maximum possible product fee on Northern Territory corporate bookmakers for the right to publish racing fields on internet sites" reported The Australian Financial Review. Under legislation passed last week by the NSW Parliament, companies will be charged a fee for the use of the fields up to a ceiling of 1.5% of their turnover; however some of the NT corporates "argue the new fees have the potential to cripple their businesses & have vowed to mount a legal battle". The actual fee to be charged by NSW racing authorities "is still being thrashed out, but Tabcorp wants it to be at the upper limit".
