2010 Irish Classics Move To Leopardstown

Wednesday, 9th July 2008

Five of Ireland's richest classics, including the Gr1 Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby, will be hosted at Leopardstown racecourse in 2010 while lengthy construction work is undertaken at The Curragh. Ireland's most famous racecourse has been given the approval by the Irish Turf Club for an extension to works which will see the St. Leger take place at Leopardstown in both 2009 and 2010. Leopardstown will also host the 1000 and 2000 Guineas and the Oaks in 2010 until racing resumes at The Curragh in 2011. Senior Steward of the Irish Turf Club Nick Wachman hailed the works as "a project that is going to help shape the future of Irish racing over the next 50 years."
