Denis Of Cork Sidelined By Injury

Wednesday, 9th July 2008

Denis Of Cork, the consistent place-getter in the US Triple Crown series this year, will miss the remainder of the season after trainer David Carroll detected the beginning of a hairline fracture in his star's near-hind ankle, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Denis Of Cork (Harlan's Holiday-Unbridled Girl, by Unbridled) finished 3rd in the Kentucky Derby and 2nd in the Belmont Stks and was lined up for the Gr2 Jim Dandy Stks and Gr1 Travers Stks for the remaining summer racing. "We're going to stop on it instead of pushing on it," Carroll commented. "It's obviously very disappointing but we want to do what's right by the horse. We look forward to a strong four-year-old campaign." Denis Of Cork has won three of six starts so far for US$613,252.
