Hallmark Disperses 63 Horses In South Africa
In South Africa, 63 Lots will go under the hammer at Hallmark Thoroughbreds in Mooi River (Kwa-Zulu Natal). Owned by the Nicholas family, Hallmark's dispersal includes 33 broodmares, a 2YO, 5 yearlings & 23 weanlings. Bruce Nicholas noted: "We've had a short, but wonderful association with thoroughbred breeding. We are fortunate to have been associated with many knowledgeable fellow-breeders and breeding will always be in our blood." The property received a Breeders' Achievement award after only 3 breeding seasons and bred an Equus Award winning champion in sprinter Let's Rock 'n Roll whose dam First Arrival (Lot 20) is one of the plums on this sale, believed in foal to leading South African sire Western Winter. "We'd be surprised if there is not another champion somewhere in this draft, the matings were carefully planned,” commented Nicholas.
