O'Brien Set To Break Record This Season

Wednesday, 9th July 2008

Ballydoyle master Aidan O'Brien is currently 6-4 on with UK bookmakers William Hill to land a record-breaking 26 Gr1 winners in a season, reported racingpost.co.uk. After a sensational Ascot campaign with Henrythenavigator, Haradasun, Duke Of Marmalade, Yeats, Frozen Fire & Soldier Of Fortune, along with last weekend's Eclipse heroine Mount Nelson, team O'Brien has already won 12 Gr1 races in 2008, prompting bookies to lay him an odds-on chance to topple US trainer Bobby Frankel's record of 25. William Hill spokesman Tony Kenny commented; "The only word to describe Aidan is genius. Both he and Coolmore have taken horse racing to another level, and I wouldn't be surprised if there are a good few takers for our price on him to break that record."
