Leading US Sire Vindication Dead

Friday, 11th July 2008

One of the US's most promising stallions has died. Within a day of announcing the retirement to Hill 'n' Dale Stud of Gr1 winner Heatseeker (see item below), the Lexington property has been stunned by the sudden death of 8YO stallion Vindication (Seattle Slew-Strawberry Reason, by Strawberry Road) due to colic-related complications. According to bloodhorse.com, the former Champion 2YO was found to have an inoperable gastric rupture when examined at leading veterinary surgery Rood & Riddle. Winner of the Gr1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile, Vindication was undefeated as a 2YO. His runners to date include 8 stakes performers and he is currently in the Top 10 2nd Crop sires in the US.
