Langfuhr Adds Canada Gr2

Monday, 14th July 2008

In Canada, former Vinery shuttler Langfuhr (Danzig-Sweet Briar Too, by Briartic) added a group success when 5YO mare The Niagara Queen (Langfuhr-Inspirational, by Lord At War) won the C$330,000 (A$338,000) Gr2 Dance Smartly Handicap (9 furlongs) for fillies & mares, 3 & up, at Woodbine, Ontario. Ridden by Jim McAleney (who turned the race into a sit-and-sprint) for Curlin's trainer Steve Asmussen, The Niagara Queen defeated 4YO mares Sprung (Grand Slam-Springhurst, by Lord At War) & Quiet Jungle (Forest Wildcat-Split The Arrow, by Smart Strike). Last September The Niagara Queen won the C$101,000 Listed Flaming Page Stakes (12 furlongs on turf) for fillies & mares at Woodbine.
