Montmartre Wins French Gr1 Grand Prix De Paris

Tuesday, 15th July 2008

In France overnight, dual Derby-winning Coolmore sire & former NZ Windsor Park shuttler Montjeu (Sadler's Wells-Floripedes, by Top Ville) added a Gr1 triumph when The Aga Khan's colt Montmartre (Montjeu-Artistique, by Linamix) led all-the-way to blitz his rivals by 4-lengths in the €600,000 (A$1.02m) Gr1 Grand Prix De Paris (2400m) for 3YOs at Longchamp. Montmartre (ridden by Christophe Soumillon for trainer Alain De Royer-Dupre) defeated Prospect Wells (Sadler's Wells-Brooklyn's Dance, by Shirley Heights) & Irish-bred Magadan (High Chaparral-Molasses, by Machiavellian). At his previous start, Montmartre (unraced as a 2YO) also won last month's French Gr3 Prix Du Lys (2400m) at Longchamp.
