Kentucky Yearlings Day-1: US$330k Unforgettable Max Colt
Bloodstock agent Jack Brothers from Hidden Brook (bidding for Paul Pompa, part owner of this year's dual classic winner Big Brown) paid the Day-1 top price of US$330,000 for a yearling colt from the 1st crop of Unforgettable Max (out of unraced 13-year-old Slewpy mare Wife's Objection) consigned by Gainesway as agent for a partnership that bought him for US$42,000 at the 2007 Keeneland November breeding stock sale. Gainesway's Brian Graves told thoroughbredtimes.com: "We found him in the back ring in November, about Book 5. It was his walk that attracted us & when we got him home, he just turned into a standout." And Brothers summed up: "We were looking for the best athlete. Paul likes to put his toe in the pin-hooking waters & if they don't pin-hook, they go in his racing stable. He had everything we look for in a racehorse, from top to bottom. Unforgettable Max is a young sire, a full-brother to a classic winner & he was a fast horse."
