Music Note Wins US Gr1 Coaching Club Oaks

Monday, 21st July 2008

In the US, Godolphin's Music Note (A.P.Indy-Note Musicale, by Sadler's Wells) notched her 4th successive victory when, "after relaxing in last place" for most of the race, she "made a strong move on the turn & powered past the rest of the field in the stretch" to race away for an overwhelming 11-lengths win in the US$300,000 Gr1 Coaching Club American Oaks (10 furlongs) for 3YO fillies at Belmont Park in New York, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Music Note (ridden by Javier Castellano for trainer Saeed Bin Suroor) defeated Gr1-winning Godolphin stable-mate Little Belle (A.P.Indy-Dubai Belle, by Mr Prospector) with a further 6.75-lengths back to Flaming Slew (Slew City Slew-Flaming Faith, by Marquetry). At her previous start Kentucky-bred Music Note won last month's US Gr1 Mother Goose Stakes (9 furlongs) at Belmont Park; overall Music Note (a half-sister to French classic winner Musical Chimes) now has 4 wins from 5 starts overall for US$398,000 earnings.
