Tesbury Jack Wins Monash Stakes

Monday, 21st July 2008

On the Australian track, ill-fated Riverdene Stud stallion Armidale (Rory's Jester-Love Bird, by Century) added a black-type success when 5YO gelded son Tesbury Jack (Armidale-Clear Money, by Clear Choice) returned from a 37-weeks spell to lead all-the-way & score a 1.25-lengths victory in the $100,000 weight-for-age Listed Sir John Monash Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield in Melbourne. Favourite Tesbury Jack (ridden by Darren Gauci for trainer Julie Scott) defeated fast-finishing 4YO entire Red Arrow (Red Ransom-Lady Jakeo, by Last Tycoon) & 6YO mare Lucky Diva (Perugino-Lucky Witch, by Voodoo Rhythm). Tesbury Jack now has 7 wins (also including 2007's Gr2 Thai Airways International Sprint over 1100m at Caulfield, plus 2006's Listed Heffernan Stakes over 1200m at Sandown & Listed Jayco Sprint over 1100m at Flemington) & 3 placings (including 2007's Gr1 The Goodwood over 1200m at Morphettville) from 17 starts for $541,650 earnings.
