1st Makybe Diva Colt At 2009 Inglis Easter

Thursday, 24th July 2008

Leading breeder Tony Santic confirmed the much-anticipated 1st foal from 3-time Gr1 Melbourne Cup winner & dual Australian Horse-Of-The-Year Makybe Diva (Desert King-Tugela, by Riverman) will be among entries for the 2009 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale in Sydney. The colt is by Europe's current leading sire, former Coolmore shuttler & Gr1 English Derby winner Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki). Makybe Diva (the only horse to win 3 Melbourne Cups: in 2003, 2004 & 2005) retired in November 2005 with 15 wins (11 stakes from 1400-3200m, including 7 Gr1s) & 7 placings from 36 starts for $14,526,685 earnings. Makybe Bloodstock manager Dean Harvey noted her 1st foal "was quite an early foal & he's a big, strong colt. He's quite an impressive individual when you get up close to him & he has a lovely temperament, just like his mum."
