Elusive Quality Adds UK Black-Type

Monday, 28th July 2008

Darley shuttler Elusive Quality (Gone West-Touch Of Greatness, by Hero's Honor) added a UK black-type success when US-bred 4YO mare Baharah (Elusive Quality-Bahr, by Generous) came from the rear of the field to score a 1.5-lengths victory in the £44,000 (A$92,000) Listed Valiant Stakes (8 furlongs) for fillies & mares at Ascot. Baharah (ridden by Richard Hughes for trainer Gerard Butler) defeated Irish-bred fellow 4YO mare Barshiba (Barathea-Dashiba, by Dashing Blade) & 5YO mare Kasumi (Inchinor-Raindrop, by Primo Dominie). Earlier this season Baharah finished runner-up in February's UK Listed Ladybird Stakes (8 furlongs on all-weather) at Kempton; overall she now has 4 wins & 3 placings from 10 starts for £75,340 (A$158,000) earnings.
