Tuesday, 29th July 2008

In North America, former NZ Windsor Park shuttler Black Minnaloushe (Storm Cat-Coral Dance, by Green Dancer) added a graded-stakes success when gelded son Artie Hot (Black Minnaloushe-Dyrce, by Sandpit) scored a half-length victory in the C$148,000 Gr3 Seagram Cup (8.5 furlongs on the all-weather Polytrack) at Woodbine in Ontario. Kentucky-bred Artie Hot (ridden by Emma-Jayne Wilson for trainer Nicholas Gonzalez) defeated favoured fellow US-bred & dual Canadian Champion True Metropolitan (Proud And True-Forest Dunes, by Green Forest) & US-bred 6YO Palladio (Lycius-Gioia, by Mari's Book) who had previously been Canada's 2005 Champion 3YO male. Last year Artie Hot also won Canada's Listed Ontario Derby (9 furlongs on the all-weather track) at Woodbine; overall he now has 5 wins from 27 starts for C$334,836 earnings.
