Mott Banned from Riding Until Health Assessed

Tuesday, 29th July 2008

Meanwhile Racing Victoria stewards yesterday concluded an inquiry into the reason jockey Jamie Mott "failed to fulfil his engagement on Éclair Magique" at Moonee Valley on Saturday. Mott pleaded guilty to a charge of negligence "for failing to notify the stewards within a reasonable time frame of his inability to fulfil his commitment" & was fined $500. Stewards also advised Mott that "given his record over the last 4 years, where he has been penalised for 18 weight-related offences & has failed to fulfil engagements on no less than 6 other occasions, he is unable to ride in races until he has been assessed by Dr Gary Zimmerman as to his health & well-being".
