1st Foal Arrives For Widden Sire Strada
Widden Stud announced the arrival of the 1st foal by young sire Strada (Danehill-Shindig, by Straight Strike): a colt (& 5th foal) from the Irish-bred Green Desert mare Sequin (acquired by Strada Investments for $115,000 at the 2007 Inglis Broodmare Sale). Strada (a stakes-winning full brother to Gr1-winner & Eliza Park 2008 stallion debutant Shinzig) covered 114 mares in his debut season last spring at $13,200 & remains at the same fee this year. In the auction ring Strada was a keenly-sought $750,000 yearling purchase by Alan Bell at the 2004 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney. Among other mares covered by Strada last spring (& now safely in-foal) were several purchased by Strada Investments specifically to breed to Strada, including: Galileo mare Hummingbird (a winning half-sister to Gr2-winner Flying Pegasus) for $520,000; stakes-winning juvenile Lady Natasha for $370,000; Midnight Queen (a full-sister to Gr1-winner Perlin) for $170,000; & Najwa (a full-sister to Gr2-winner Courvoisier) for $110,000.
