Wednesday, 30th July 2008

In the UK overnight, Former Yarraman Park shuttler Desert Style (Green Desert-Organza, by High Top) added a group success when Irish-bred Paco Boy (Desert Style-Tappen Zee, by Sandhurst Prince) snatched victory by a neck in the £155,000 (A$326,000) Gr2 Betfair Cup-Lennox Stakes (7 furlongs) against older rivals on the opening day of the Glorious Goodwood carnival. Paco Boy (ridden by Richard Hughes for trainer Richard Hannon) defeated fellow Irish-bred 3YO colt Stimulation (Choisir-Damiana, by Thatching) & front-running Irish-bred 5YO entire Dunelight (Desert Sun-Badee'a, by Marju) who also finished 3rd in this race last year. Earlier this season Paco Boy won both March's UK Listed Spring Cup (7 furlongs on the all-weather track) at Lingfield Park & April's Gr3 Greenham Stakes (7 furlongs) at Newbury; overall he now has 5 wins & a placing from 7 starts.
