Pins Foal Bonus For Inglis Melb Sale
Next month's 2-day Inglis Melbourne August Thoroughbred Sale (August 14-15) includes a bonus which doesn't appear in the catalogue. Irish-bred Danzig mare Mariah (lot 88) is carrying a positive test to leading NZ Waikato Stid stallion Pins (sire of last year's Gr1 Cox Plate winner El Segundo). Though catalogued as "not in foal", Mariah (to be offered by Wood Nook Farm) is in fact due to foal to Pins (Snippets-No Finer, by Kaoru Star) in September; Pins is standing the 2008 season at Waikato for NZ$50,000+GST. Mariah is a half-sister to Gr1-winning sire King Charlemagne & Gr3-winner Meshaheer; & her dam is the US Gr1 Santa Anita winner Race The Wild Wind. The resultant foal will carry a similar Snippets-Danzig cross to young sires Snowland & Snippetson. Inglis Victorian bloodstock director Peter Heagney noted: "The resultant foal will have a pedigree that would appeal to buyers at any sale in Australasia & there aren't too many opportunities remaining to buy young Danzig mares anywhere in the world."
