Identity Proof Needed For NSW Bookie Accounts
Racing NSW announced any person who makes an application to open a betting account with a licensed bookmaker must now provide proof of identity. In addition bookmakers are banned from dealing with any person they have "reasonable grounds to suspect may not be the person he or she claims to be, until that customer has provided a bookmaker with proof of identity" & bookmakers have been reminded they "must comply with the obligations of ongoing customer due diligence under section 36 of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006".
