Desert Style Adds UK Gr2

Monday, 18th August 2008

In the UK, former Yarraman Park shuttler Desert Style (Green Desert-Organza, by High Top) added a group success when Irish-bred 3YO colt Paco Boy (Desert Style-Tappen Zee, by Sandhurst Prince) scored a 4.5-lengths victory against older rivals in the £100,000 (A$210,000) Gr2 Hungerford Stakes (7 furlongs) at Newbury. Favourite Paco Boy (ridden by Ryan Moore for trainer Richard Hannon) defeated fellow Irish-breds 5YO entire Al Qasi (Elnadim-Delisha, by Salse) & 6YO gelding Beaver Patrol (Tagula-Erne Project, by Project Manager). At his previous start Paco Boy won July's UK Gr2 Betfair Cup-Lennox Stakes (7 furlongs) also against older rivals at Goodwood; & earlier this season he also won both March's UK Listed Spring Cup (7 furlongs on the all-weather track) at Lingfield Park & April's Gr3 Greenham Stakes (7 furlongs) at Newbury. Overall Paco Boy now has 6 wins & a placing from 8 starts for £217,355 (A$456,000) earnings.
