Tamayuz Wins French Gr1 Marois

Monday, 18th August 2008

In France overnight, Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum's 3YO colt Tamayuz (Nayef-Al Ishq, by Nureyev) notched his 2nd Gr1 triumph in a month with a 2.5-lengths victory against older rivals in the €600,000 (A$1.02m) Gr1 Prix du Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard-Jacques le Marois (1600m) at Deauville. Tamayuz (ridden by Davy Bonilla for trainer Freddie Head) defeated recent UK Gr1 1000 Guineas-winning 3YO filly Natagora (Divine Light-Reinamixa, by Linamix) & UK-bred 4YO entire Major Cadeaux (Cadeaux Genereux-Maine Lobster, by Woodman). Last month Tamayuz also won France's Gr1 Prix Jean Prat (1600m) at Chantilly & earlier this season he won April's Gr3 Prix De Fontainebleau (1600m) at Longchamp. Overall Tamayuz now has 5 wins from 6 starts.
