Minister Warns On NSW Race Fields Laws

NSW Minister For Gaming And Racing Graham West issued an official warning that "wagering operators using NSW race fields without approval from the relevant controlling body are committing an offence" under the new race fields legislation which came into force yesterday (September 1). West noted wagering operators & the controlling bodies of racing "have had 2 months to manage the initial application & approval process." West confirmed: "The NSW Office of Liquor, Gaming & Racing is responsible for identifying potential breaches of the legislation & taking enforcement action. A corporation using NSW race fields without approval faces a maximum penalty of $55,000. Individuals face a fine of up to $5,500 & 12 months in jail for a 1st offence & double that for repeat offenders."
