Montjeu Adds UK Gr2

Dual-Derby winning Coolmore sire & former NZ Windsor Park shuttler Montjeu (Sadler's Wells-Floripedes, by Top Ville) added a UK group success when Ballydoyle's Irish-bred 4YO entire & Melbourne Cup entrant Honolulu (Montjeu-Cerulean Sky, by Darshaan) scored a decisive 4-lengths victory in the £100,000 (A$210,00) Gr2 Doncaster Cup (18 furlongs) at Doncaster. Favourite Honolulu (ridden by Johnny Murtagh for trainer Aidan O'Brien) defeated 8YO gelding Balkan Knight (Selkirk-Crown Of Light, by Mtoto) & front-running fellow Irish-bred 4YO entire Royal And Regal (Sadler's Wells-Smart 'n Noble, by Smarten). Last year Honolulu won Ireland's Listed Martin Molony Stakes (11.5 furlongs) at Limerick, as well as finishing 3rd as favourite in the UK Gr1 St Leger (14 furlongs) at Doncaster, runner-up in Europe's most valuable handicap, the Ebor Handicap (14 furlongs) at York (behind subsequent 2007 Melbourne Cup runner-up Purple Moon) & 3rd in the UK Gr3 Cumberland Lodge Stakes (12 furlongs) at Ascot. Overall Honolulu now has 4 wins & 4 placings from 11 starts for £235,226 (A$493,000) earnings.
