Juice Wins NZ Gold Trail Stakes

NZ Rich Hill Stud's Darley shuttler Bertolini (Danzig-Aquilegia, by Alydar) group success when daughter Juice (Bertolini-Call Minder, by Christmas Tree) scored a half-length victory in the NZ$75,000 Gr3 NZ Bloodstock Gold Trail Stakes (1200m) for 3YO fillies at Hastings. Juice (ridden by Leith Innes for trainer John Wheeler) defeated front-running Daffodil (No Excuse Needed-Spring, by O'Reilly) & last season's NZ Champion juvenile Il Quello Veloce (Captain Rio-Nishaani, by Gold Brose). Juice (a NZ$20,000 yearling at the 2007 NZ Bloodstock Carnival Sale) now has 3 wins (also including April's Listed NZ Bloodstock Fillies Stakes over 1200m at Avondale) & 3 placings (including April's Listed Great Northern Champagne Stakes over 1600m at Ellerslie) from 7 starts for $92,510 earnings. This race was also the 1st leg of the prestigious 10-event 2008-09 NZ Bloodstock Filly-Of-The-Year Series.
