Maryland Yearlings Day-1: US$155k Silver Deputy Colt

Wednesday, 1st October 2008

In the US auction ring, David Scanlon from Scanlon Training Centre paid the Day-1 top price of US$155,000 for a Silver Deputy colt (out of multiple stakes-winning Geiger Counter mare Run For Joy) during the opening session at the 3-day Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Eastern Fall Yearling Sale at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium. Scanlon confirmed the Maryland-bred colt (consigned by breeder Herb Moelis from Candyland Farm) will be pointed to a select 2YO sale in 2009 & told thoroughbredtimes.com: "I just thought he looked like a runner. He had a great body, great hip, out of a Geiger Counter mare & he seemed to fit the program we're looking for. Silver Deputy has been a good, solid horse for the 2YO sales. Typically, they're precocious & they have speed."
