Thursday, 2nd October 2008

US Gr2-winning 6YO stallion Harlington (a US$2.8 million purchase by Eugene Melynk at the 2003 Keeneland September Yearling Sale) will begin his stud career in 2009 at John Sikura's Hill 'n' Dale Farms in Kentucky at a US$10,000 fee. Kentucky-bred Harlington (Unbridled-Serena's Song, by Rahy) recorded 6 wins from 10 starts (including the 2006 Gr2 Gulfstream Park Handicap) for US$370,000 earnings; he finished 4th in June's Gr1 Suburban Handicap at Belmont Park in his final start. Melynk told thoroughbredtimes.com: "Harlington showed as much potential as any horse we have had. We are supporting him with our top mares, as we feel he will become an important sire." And Sikura added: "Harlington was a beautiful yearling by a classic sire out of a great producer. He has all the requirements of a future leading sire." Grand Reward (another Gr2-winner out of champion Serena's Song) also stands at Hill 'n' Dale; & Serena's Song has also produced Gr1-winner Sophisticat & stakes-winner Serena's Tune.
