Maryland Yearlings Day-3: US$320k Holy Bull Colt

Friday, 3rd October 2008

Pennsylvania homebuilder Ed Stevenson's Cavanaugh Breen Farm out-bid Jay Em Ess Stable & paid top price of US$320,000 for a Holy Bull colt (out of stakes-placed winning Citidancer mare Disco Darlin) during the closing session at the 3-day Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Eastern Fall Yearling Sale at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium in the US. The colt (bred & consigned by Candyland Farm) will be sent to Ocala in Florida for breaking & be trained by Guadalupe Preciado. Candyland's Mike Palmer told thoroughbredtimes.com: "It was unbelievable, a lot of fun. He went well above our expectations, but he is a very, very nice colt: strong, sturdy & one of the smoothest Holy Bulls I've ever seen. I knew everybody was on him, but I didn't realise it would be this amount of money."
