In the UK, Gr1-winning 5YO entire Sixties Icon (Galileo-Love Divine, by Diesis) who has won 3 successive Gr3 races over the last 2 months "will stand at Norman Court Stud near Salisbury for £6,000 (A$12,600)" after he retires from the track following the upcoming US Gr1 Breeders' Cup, reported racingpost.co.uk. Last weekend Sixties Icon (whose dam Love Divine was victorious in the 2000 Gr1 English Oaks) won the UK Gr3 Cumberland Lodge Stakes (12 furlongs) at Ascot; & during August, he also won both the UK Gr3 Geoffrey Freer Stakes (13.5 furlongs) at Newbury & Gr3 Glorious Stakes (12 furlongs) at Goodwood. Sixties Icon was a 230,000 guineas (A$506,000) yearling at the 2004 UK Tattersalls October Sale; unraced as a 2YO, he finished 3rd in 2006's Gr2 King Edward VII Stakes (12 furlongs) at Royal Ascot & then won the Gr3 Gordon Stakes (12 furlongs) at Goodwood before also winning the world's oldest Classic, the UK Gr1 St Leger (14 furlongs) on the Knavesmire at York. He returned last season to add victory in the Gr2 Jockey Club Stakes (12 furlongs) at Newmarket & finished runner-up in that same race in his 2008 seasonal debut, before blitzing his rivals by 5-lengths to win May's Listed Festival Stakes (10 furlongs) at Goodwood.
