Thompson New Aushorse Marketing Chairman

Friday, 3rd October 2008

In Australia, Widden Stud's Antony Thompson has been elected chairman of the newlyformed Aushorse Marketing board, following the recent resignation of Arrowfield Stud boss John Messara (Aushorse chairman for the last 7 years). Thompson has managed historic Widden Stud in the NSW Hunter Valley for the past 15 years & has been president of the Hunter Thoroughbred Breeders' Association & treasurer for Aushorse Ltd. As part of a new marketing strategy, Aushorse (while continuing its overseas marketing efforts) will now "concentrate heavily on the domestic market, with its major aim to attract new racehorse owners". Thompson heads a revamped Aushorse board (comprising 3 directors from Aushorse Ltd & 3 from Thoroughbred Breeders Australia) that also includes vice chairman Graham Ingerson (SA), treasurer Sally Oakes (WA), Ron Gilbert (Qld), John Kelly (NSW) & Tas Reilly (Vic).
