Bushranger Wins UK Gr1 Middle Park Stakes

Ill-fated former Western Australia-based Alwyn Park Stud shuttler Danetime (Danehill-Allegheny River, by Lear Fan) added a juvenile Gr1 triumph when his Irish-bred colt Bushranger (Danetime-Danz Danz, by Efisio) made it 2 successive Gr1 wins with a 1.25-lengths victory in the £170,000 (A$357,000) Gr1 Shadwell Middle Park Stakes (6 furlongs) for 2YO colts at Newmarket. Favourite Bushranger (ridden by Johnny Murtagh for trainer David Wachman) defeated fellow Irish-bred colt Sayif (Kheleyf-Sewards Folly, by Rudimentary) & US-bred colt Huntdown (Elusive Quality-Infinite Spirit, by Maria's Mon). Bushranger was sold for €15,000 (A$26,000) as a foal at Goffs & at his previous start won France's Gr1 Darley Prix Morny (1200m) at Deauville on August 24. Earlier this season Bushranger also runner-up in June's UK Listed Windsor Castle Stakes (5 furlongs) at Royal Ascot, then won the Irish Gr3 Anglesey Stakes (6 furlongs) at The Curragh on July 13 & finished 3rd in Ireland's Gr1 Phoenix Stakes (6 furlongs) at The Curragh on July 27. Overall Bushranger now has 4 wins & 2 placings from 6 starts for £337,625 (A$709,000) earnings.
