Tuesday, 7th October 2008

In Hong Kong, former NZ champion sire Centaine (Century-Rainbeam, by Vain) added a group success when 5YO gelding Enthused (Centaine-Free As A Bird, by Jugah) gained the decision in a 3-way photo-finish to the HK$2.3 million (A$330,000) Gr3 Sha Tin Sprint Trophy (1000m). Enthused (ridden by Douglas Whyte for Australian trainer John Size) scored by a neck from Australian-bred fellow 5YO gelding Superior Unit (Westbridge-Mysticaro, by Seattle Slew) with a further short-head to NZ Gr1-winning 4YO entire Nightlign (Align-Indian Squaw, by Carolingian). Enthused (an NZ$40,000 yearling purchased by Aquanita Racing & consigned by Windsor Park Stud at the 2005 NZ Bloodstock Karaka Select Sale) now has 4 wins & 8 placings from 13 starts for HK$4,922,050 (A$703,000) earnings.
