Lady Marian Wins France Gr1 Opera

Tuesday, 7th October 2008

German-bred 3YO filly Lady Marian (Nayef-La Felicita, by Shareef Dancer) finished strongly from mid-field to score a 1.5-lengths victory against older rivals in the €250,000 (A$425,000) Gr1 Prix de l'Opera (2000m) for fillies & mares at Longchamp. Lady Marian (ridden by Dominique Boeuf for trainer Werner Baltromei) defeated UK-bred favourite & multiple Gr1-winning fellow 3YO filly Lush Lashes (Galileo-Dance For Fun, by Anabaa) & The Aga Khan's Irish home-bred 3YO filly Katiyra (Peintre Celebre-Katiykha, by Darshaan). Previously this season Lady Marian won July's German Gr3 Fahrhofer Stutenpreis (2200m) at Hamburg, then finished runner-up in August's Gr1 Preis Der Diana-German Oaks (2200m) at Dusseldorf & most recently won France's Gr3 Prix De La Nonette (2000m) at Deauville. Overal she now has 3 wins & 2 runners-up from 8 starts for £230,400 (A$483,000) earnings.
