Paco Boy Wins France Gr1 Foret

Tuesday, 7th October 2008

Former Yarraman Park shuttler Desert Style (Green Desert-Organza, by High Top) added a Gr1 triumph when Irish-bred 3YO colt Paco Boy (Desert Style-Tappen Zee, by Sandhurst Prince) scored a 3-lengths victory against older rivals in the €250,000 (A$425,000) Gr1 Prix de la Foret (1400m) at Longchamp. Paco Boy (ridden by Christophe Soumillon for trainer Richard Hannon) defeated this season's UK Gr1 1000 Guineas-winning 3YO filly Natagora (Divine Light-Reinamixa, by Linamix) & US-bred 4YO entire US Ranger (Danzig-My Annette, by Red Ransom). At his previous start Paco Boy finished 3rd against older rivals in September's French Gr1 Prix Du Moulin (1600m) at Longchamp, after successive victories against older rivals in both July's UK Gr2 Betfair Cup-Lennox Stakes (7 furlongs) at Goodwood & August's Gr2 Hungerford Stakes (7 furlongs) at Newbury; & earlier this season he also won both March's UK Listed Spring Cup (7 furlongs on all-weather) at Lingfield Park & April's Gr3 Greenham Stakes (7 furlongs) at Newbury. Overall Paco Boy now has 7 wins & 2 placings from 10 starts for £356,010 (A$747,000) earnings.
